Whilst the vast majority of surgical procedures take place without any complications, a small minority of patients experience complications either on the day of the operation or in the post-operative period.

All patients are at risk of developing complications.  However, pre-existing health problems, being overweight and increasing age are factors which are generally associated with increased risk.

Before deciding to go ahead with a surgical procedure it is important that you consider and fully understand both the proposed benefits and the potential risks or complications associated with that procedure.
